walking along the waterfalls and the papermills

The Amalfi Mill's Valley

Classic walks

DESCRIPTION:

This tour is a combination of walk, history, food and fun!

We walk into one of the most amazing valley following the Canneto river. The scenery is amazing. We are in a chesnut forest and the clear water of the river jumps on the rocks creating lots of waterfalls and natural swimming pools.

On the way we find all the ruins of the old and abandoned paper mills where in the 13th century local people started to produce paper using cloths.

The last spot in the valley is a natural reserve with the most spectacular waterfalls. It's a protected area where the "Woodwardia radicans" grows, a pre-historic fern that can be 2 meters long!

In Amalfi we can visit the PAPER MUSEUM, that was a paper factory in the 14th century. A guide will show us the old machineries and the process in making paper using cloths.

The right end of our tour will be a great luch in a family restaurant on a balcony overlooking Amalfi.
