A taste of Amalfi Coast

DESCRIPTION:

We start the tour in the village of Vietri sul Mare, where are located all the ceramic factories of the Amalfi coast.

This village is at 20 minutes by car from Salerno and I can provide private transportation back and forth.
We walk around Vietri sul Mare for a look to all the shops having different style and we then go in a small studio where we meet the young owners.

They will explain us their job, the technique in making ceramics and they will invite you in experiencing the making of a ceramic tile.

This is a great experience for a deep dive in the local culture, an opportunity to meet young craftmans and artists.

During our tour we can do a stop to have a coffee in a beautiful cafe and patisserie as well as in a shop specialized in producing fish products, where we can have a tasting of tuna fish stored in oil or a taste of the so-called "colatura di alici" a special sauce made with anchovies, perfect for pasta.

ITINERARY:

We meet in Vietri sul Mare and we start with a coffee in a great cafe and patisserie.
You can try the traditional cakes of the Amalfi coast, the espresso or the cappuccino.

I introduce you to the town, its history and culture, as well as to the local production of ceramics.

We then go walking in the center and visiting the ceramic shops. There is a large variety of styles, so you can have an idea of the classical way of making ceramics using in the decoration the characteristic elements of the Amalfi coast like lemons, small colored houses and donkeys.

We also see some more modern way of making ceramics due to the young and talented local artists.
We go and visit one studio owned by to young artists who will explain us the technique.
You then experience yourself the ceramic making a tile with the support of these artists.

After this experience, I bring you in a fish shop specialized in storing local fish, we can have a tasting and you can do your shopping.
